If you use Open Office, I've created, and just uploaded to the Open Office template website a stock portfolio tracking spreadsheet booklet.

You can download it from; http://templates.services.openoffice.org/
Do a search for stock or rsstacey.

To get it to work, you MUST install GETQUOTE, a free extension to OpenOffice.org Calc.
It is listed at; http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/GetQuote
GETQUOTE is available at: Http://getquote-tedsoft.blogspot.ca/

I'm pretty sure my spreadsheet and GETQUOTE will also work with Libre Office.

Take a look at it and let me know what you think and how it could be improved.

  1. I downloaded your portfolio template, it has everything that I was starting to work on, Very Nice. Question - How do I lessen the number of stocks and still get the column totals (F to K) to work properly?

  2. Glad you like the spreadsheet and find it useful. To lessen the number of stocks listed go to; Tools|protect document| and then untick sheet. You can now delete entire rows. The sums should automatically adjust, but if they don't, you can now go into the sums and adjust the start and end cells in the column sum.

    1. Thanks, somehow I did unprotect it (by accident) and just deleted the cell contents that were not being used. This way the space is still there and I can just copy and paste into the equations into F thru K when needed. One addition that I am making for my personal curiosity is to add two columns, one for the goal price of the stock(5% - 15%), second for the difference between the daily price and the goal.

Everything is working great, Thanks again.

  4. Hi Mr. Stacey
I downloaded your stock tracking template from Open Office, and it was a bit miraculous. Almost too miraculous and I hope you can assuage my concerns. What happened was I simply downloaded the template and opened it. I populated nothing, and I have no records or lists of my stock transactions on my hard drive. Yet, when I opened the template, it was pre-populated with all of my stock buys, dates, shares etc. from one of my brokerage accounts. This seems almost scary. Where and how does this template get that information? And how do I know my account hasn't been compromised?

    1. Actually the extension "getquote" has not been available since 2014,so new downloads of the template have not worked since then.

If your template works and is populated with your stock and trading info then you or someone working on your behalf must have downloaded the template prior to 2014 and is maintaining the data. When working getquote only gets quote information, nothing else
